Born Bernita ‘Jemally’ Brumant, in East London, on 1st February 1983, Bernita began singing and acting at an early age: She was part of school performances of ‘Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat,’ ‘Little Shop Of Horrors’ and ‘Calamity Jane’, among other various acting and singing roles, as well as being part of the school choir. Bernita also plays the violin to grade 5 and the piano to grade 8, and has travelled to Belguim and Germany as part of her secondary school musical group performing at various concerts and community events. Bernita has just completed a Diploma in Contemporary Popular Music at College, achieving 36 credits with merits and distinctions. Areas of study on this course included, Composition. Music Business, Performance Skills, Keyboard Skills, Contracts and Royalties and Studio Recording, Vocals and Sequencing. Various performances as a solo artist include; The National Festival of New Music – De Momfort Hall, Leicester. June 2003 Peace On The Streets, (Sponsored by Choice FM) – Lloyds Park Theatre. August 2003 Regifest 2002 and 2003 – The Ocean, Hackney DMF Fund Raising Concert – The International Hotel, Docklands. November 2003 Stop the Violence Concert – Springfield Park, July 2004 And also other Numerous Showcases & College gigs. Bernita was also a member of R ‘n’ B Group Def Scoutz, were they were asked to perform at a local community festival in West Ham Park. Bernita has also performed at The Royal Albert Hall and East London Theatre. Bernita’s major influences in music are Whitney Houston, TLC, Janet Jackson, although she listens to and is influenced by a variety of different styles and artists. Bernita is actively involved in her Church music department, where she is a regular performer at various events, and also teaches the younger youth some of the skills she has developed. Bernita writes all her own lyrics, and is currently developing her repertoire in the studio and working towards an album release. Hobbies include, Dancing, Keep Fit and enjoys the odd night out with friends.
